It was an event for the books in more ways than one! We have heard that it was the biggest one yet. Kids and kids at heart all lined up in their red and green to watch or participate ahead of this year's parade along Wolfe Street and beyond.
Earlier in the day, shoppers enjoyed the fares and wares at the Cohutta Christmas Market, an event sponsored by local downtown businesses. Lots of shoppers were able to get a jumpstart on their list and kids were able to visit Santa.
Just as the parade was about to begin, however, our police chief, Greg Fowler, was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic. The parade was delayed as folks rushed to his aid. The thing about small towns, is when one of us is down, we all lend a hand to help them back up again. Chief has reported that he is feeling much better and is recuperating at home. The prayers of everyone are with him as he heals. He's proving that you really can't keep a good man down!
After a short delay, the parade continued as planned (Chief wouldn't have it any other way). We appreciate all the hard work that went into planning and designing all the floats, and our organizers Katie Bagby and Perry Wilson for once again putting together an amazing parade!
